Time Flies

Gene
The other day I received a notice from the Department of Transportation for a tag renewal. When I saw it in my stack of mail, I couldn't think of a reason why we'd be getting a renewal in April. When I opened it, I discovered it was for Gene's go-fast bike he bought last April.  And then, this morning I found this photo with the date stamp on it.  Wow. A whole year has gone by.

I remember last year receiving a call at work from Gene telling me he had found this bike on Craigslist he wanted to look at in Corvallis, Oregon. I had never been to Corvallis but I'm always game for a road trip. Sometimes we have big ideas during the middle of the week and they might fizzle by the time Friday night rolls around, especially if something better to do crops up. But that's not what happened last April. Early Saturday morning, we brewed a big pot of coffee, grabbed Gene's helmet and drove 309 miles to Corvallis. We didn't get there until somewhere around 1 or 2 p.m. Of course, Gene had to visit quite awhile with the guy selling the motorcycle. "Missy" was with us and I just walked her around the neighborhood while they were kicking the tires and "shooting the shit".  When all was said and done, we rolled out of Corvallis at 4:00 p.m.  I thought perhaps we'd be staying in Portland instead of driving 5-1/2 hours to get home. I was wrong.

Gene got on that bike and didn't want to get off. Apparently, she is comfortable. And, she has a lot of zip.

I'm glad I had a date stamp on this photo. We've had some funky weather lately but this picture provides me hope that it's going to get better soon.
I'd love to go back to Corvallis sometime. What a great little college town! I have another year under my belt and have figured out how to use some buttons on my camera. I can hardly wait to get back out on the road for some motorcycling adventures and opportunities for new photos.

Until then, I'm having to dig through the archives for anything semi-interesting. I'm coming up short .....

love, susan

  1. Susan, Time seems to go so much faster the older we get. Photos are the way to remember special times and I'm so glad you found this photo. What a great story! Time, it seems, is so fleeting and something that when it's gone we can never get it back, so we need to make the most of it every single day. huggs, Janie

  3. Do you have pictures from your first year with Gene? Would love to see some of the way past stuff. I know there are a lot of story's in them. And I know we would love to hear them too.

You Made My Day, Dude!

A couple weeks ago while I was driving back to Portland after spending the night on the Oregon coast, we came up on some road construction ...
