Organizing Chaos

I have owned rubber stamps, funky scissors, ink pads and paper punches most of my adult life. That would be about 30+ years. In all that time, I've always wanted to get them organized but never quite made it.  This post just goes to show it's never too late to put an idea into action.

I set my alarm for 50 minutes this morning and just grabbed the first box closest to me as I walked into my ironing room and started to work weeding it out. I am going to sell the stamps I haven't used in a long time in my yard sale. If they don't sell, I'll donate them or find a friend who might like to have them.

I got through two boxes of stuff!  I can see it's going to take a lot longer to sort and organize than it did to move it out of the room.  However, I'm determined to get it done. I really wanted to do more than 50 minutes this morning but I restrained myself.

Yeah, I'm not going to be able to live with this pile in my "ironing" room very long!

Well, it's 10:00 a.m. and the man is chomping at the bit to get on the motorcycles for a ride.

I'll tackle another box or two tomorrow.

love, susan

  1. I'd be chomping at the bit too. I keep dropping hints to John to make sure he knows I am serious about wanting a motorcycle. He thinks I wouldn't like it, but I disagree. Of course it would be more fun if we each had one and Damon was old enough to ride along. But for the time being, I want one of my own. Have a good ride. Dani

  2. Great job, Susan!! my studio used to be like that, all labeled and sorted but somehow it got completely out of hand. Incidentally, I actually used most of what was in my studio. I really miss some of the things that I go to get when I'm doing a project, but eventually I'll have it all worked out. Keep it up!

  3. You are really limiting your time here and it is good. A ride with Gene is most important to you both. A few more days of your 50 minutes will really show. Good for you Sue.

  4. @ Dani ~ I love riding!

@ Janie ~ thanks for the encouragement! Feels good!

@ Nancy ~ yeah, I have to limit my time because I've learned that's how I get totally burned out on a project. I could spend all day doing this and not be done with it and never finish it. This feels so much more manageable to limit my time doing it so it doesn't feel like "work".

  5. Well, I think I will limit my time on this to 10 minutes a week. That way I can spend more time on my M-Cycle and let Susan and the kids go through the crap some day when I have croaked. Just seems the right thing to do somehow..!
