In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lion

(Portland Zoo)
"The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March."
-  Robert Frost, Two Tramps in Mud Time, 1926

Forecast is for thunderstorms today. I'm wondering what we've done to tick off Mother Nature?

  2. I love it! Even Robert Frost subscribed to the human conception that somehow what we think or say contributes to meteorological events, or the notion that we can somehow "jinx" things by our utterances! Perhaps if he had survived to 1969 he would have enjoyed the opening lines of The Temptations hits "Can't Get Next to You"
"I can turn a gray sky blue,
I can make it rain, whenever I want it to..."

  3. Whoa! Thought you penned that. LOL. I like it and even have a poetry anthology here someplace, yet didn't recognize the work of a favorite.

LOL Johnny. They were right on, too. reading the lyric excerpts, I did just that. I saw gray to blue skies and rain. All in my mind's eye. :)
